Ellen Mains felt the presence of spirits who had died in the Holocaust and had lost their trust in basic goodness. She will discuss how she crossed religious boundaries to find healing, forgiveness and blessings of ancestors.
Ellen Korman Mains has taught meditation and other body-mind disciplines for over forty years. She is the daughter of Polish-born Jews who survived the Holocaust and were very upset when she began practicing Buddhism at the age of 19. In 2005, she had the unusual experience of spirits contacting her while traveling on a train in Germany, and her memoir “Buried Rivers: A Spiritual Journey into the Holocaust’ describes how she responded by using her Buddhist training to look into the Holocaust and her own family legacy. Since 2006, she has been traveling regularly to Poland to connect with the ancestral presence that she feels there.
